I have a requirement to provide communications to an off shore oil platform. The hop length is approximately 60 km, frequency band 7 GHz, the region is tropical and falls into ITU rain region P.
Can anybody give me advice on how to go about planning the link and any pitfalls to watch out for?

I did a similar one some years back. It depends on the exact installation.
The hardest challenge was making sure there was comms when a moored tanker blocked the path.
I used a modified Space Diversity configuration on the rig and a single antenna on the land site. Ideally you will need to have the antennas not only at different ends of the platform but also at different heights.

you can contact me offline if you need specific help.
