Pathloss Version 4.0 - Build date June 13, 2008

The following changes have been implemented in this build:

• Networks which cross the International Date line are now correctly displayed.

• US terrain data in the ESRI GridFloat format is now being supplied in 1/3 second resolution. The size of these files have increased to approximately 1.4 Gb. In most cases, these files cannot be read into memory and the database operation will fail. The current build reads the elevations one by one. Note that if the file resides on a shared network drive, the create background operation can be very slow if the several of these files are required for the background. Further work is underway to improve the file reading performance

• The import link text file feature now includes a cross reference between the radio and antenna identifiers in the import data and the Pathloss radio and Antenna code files. Documentation for this feature is in the file linkxref.pdf in the documents section.

Pathloss 4.0 now supports USGS data in the GRIDFLOAT format - October 26, 2006

The ESRI GRIDFLOAT terrain database format has been added in this build. This has been tested with the USGS supplied USB hard-drive

Pathloss 4.0 now has german language support - October 12, 2006

The Pathloss 4. program nows includes a german language module, which like french, spanish and english, allows the users to change the interface language on the fly. The translation was provided by TKT Teleconsult, a German based company who offers Pathloss training courses. 

USGS SRTM Data Now Supported

Pathloss 4.0 now supports the SRTM data. The SRTM data is available through the following two USGS sources:

• USGS Seamless Data Distribution SystemThese must be downloaded as BIL files. Click here for instructions on how to use with Pathloss.
• ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm. These are HGT files which are compressed using pkzip.Click here for instructions on how to use with Pathloss.

USGS NED SDDS Now Supported

Pathloss 4.0 now supports the USGS Seamless Data Distribution System which includes the National Elevation Dataset (NED) and the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) datasets. Click here for instructions on how to use with Pathloss.

CDED 1:50,000 Files Now Supported

The CDED (Canadian Digital Elevation Data) 1:50,000  files available from geobase.ca are now supported by the Pathloss program. You must download the latest Pathloss update in order to use.
